Women’s Wellbeing Weekend: Rowen, North Wales


Fully funded weekend retreat for you to explore, relax and connect.



As part of the YHA Festival of Walking 2023, from 22 – 24 September 2023, Idaraya Life C.I.C is hosting a weekend for women to de-stress, explore the beautiful surroundings and connect with themselves and other women. We will be the only group at YHA Slaidburn, Clitheroe, Lancashire.

Cost:

Fully Funded – Including travel from Wigan to Slaidburn only (You only need to bring your personal items)

(A donation of £10 – £20 would be appreciated – This is not a requirement to attend)


Age:

Women aged 18 and Over (including Trans Women and non-binary people)


Target Audience:

We are targeting women based in Wigan, Leigh, Makerfield and will welcome women from Greater Manchester at large. 


Transport:

There is are 16 places avaiable on the minibus from Wigan to Slaidburn and back to Wigan.

Please note that must make your own way to the meeting point in Wigan


What will we be doing:

Friday, 22 September 2023: Arrive around 6pm ( We will leave Wigan at 4pm)

Saturday. 23 September 2023: Mindfulness activities, Craft workshops (Tie Dye and Soap Making), Walking/hiking and plenty time to socialise.

Sunday, 24 September 2023: We will relax, gather, reflect and explore Slaidburn. We will leave after lunchtime at 3pm.


Accommodation:

Based on shared room accommodation, maximum occupancy 6.


Food:

This is a Self-Catering site and we will be cooking our meals together.

All meals included in the funding (including a packed lunch for when we go for our walk).

Why is this funded weekend happening?

The YHA (Youth Hostel Association) has provide funding to Idaraya Life C.I.C to host a retreat at a YHA location in the UK as part of the Festival of Walking encouraging us to walk and enjoy our local landscape. Idaraya Life C.I.C provides access to mental wellbeing activities which includes exploring the outdoors and connecting with other women. We have a specific interest in engaging women who work and volunteer in the community or wouldn’t usually have the means or skills to attend weekends away. 

What do I need to bring?

*This is a rough guide and not an exhaustive list. The weather can change quickly so it’s best to be prepared. Remember your comfy clothes to relax in as well as your outdoor kit. *ACTIVITIES WILL BE CONFIRMED CLOSER TO THE DATE*

  • Sunscreen
  • Light Clothes for daytime warmth
  • Warm clothes, including hat & gloves
  • Any medication required
  • Towel

Is it really for all women?

This wellbeing weekend is for all women, including trans women and non-binary people. We are particularly keen on having a multi-cultural, multi-generational space where we connect with women from a diverse range of backgrounds. Walking Activities


  • Waterproof Jacket & trousers
  • Appropriate attire for the predicted weather. For all land activities we recommend long trousers.
  • Warm jumper or fleece, long sleeves
  • Walking boots with ankle support (Please let us know if you don’t have walking boots as we may be able to lend you some for the weekend)

Do you provide transport?

Mostly.

We have funded spaces for a return trip between Wigan and YHA Slaidburn. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide support to travel from surrounding areas to Wigan.

How is Health and Safety managed?

As we’ll be staying in shared accommodation to make sure all our guests feel safe and comfortable, we ask that every woman shares their needs on the registration form.

How do I register?

Register your interest in a place by completing the registration form, by 16 August 2023, to aid planning.
